The Claire Jones Ensemble — Christmas Jazz Night

Join us for a sparkling evening of festive jazz as Claire Jones and her ensemble bring seasonal soul, cool bossa, swinging classics and a touch of Christmas magic to Summertown. Expect favourite jazz standards, winter warmers, and a few unexpected treats — the perfect way to unwind before Christmas.

The Players

Alastair Penman (saxes)
Professor of Saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music. Alastair is hailed as a “pioneering instrumentalist and writer” whose tone and improvisation bring surpassing beauty to every performance.

Claire Jones (vocals)
A Guildhall-trained vocalist with a remarkable ear for jazz language. Claire “blends the voice into the fabric of the music, improvises and bends notes like an instrument” — expect warmth, sparkle and effortless swing.

Steve Kershaw (double bass)
A renowned bassist, bandleader and educator on the UK jazz scene. Steve’s rich tone, rhythmic drive and deep musical instinct anchor the ensemble with style and subtlety.

Rory McInroy (keys)
Jazz educator and outstanding pianist, Rory is constantly in demand for his sensitive accompaniment, compelling solos and elegant touch at the keyboard.
